Starry Night gala, auction benefits adult disabled

PROVIDENCE – Re-Focus, Inc., a non-profit human service agency supporting people with developmental disabilities, will hold its annual Starry Night Gala and Auction on Wednesday, May 21, 2008.

The event will be held at Providence Piers at Conley’s Wharf, 200 Allens Avenue, Providence, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Music will be provided by Avenue A.

Chairpersons for this event are Nancy and Bill Gilbane, Chris and Don Kavanagh, Bill and Doris Loehning and Mary and Ed Bray.

The silent auction raised more than $35,000 last year and Re-Focus, Inc. hopes to increase that amount this year. Proceeds will be earmarked for their $3-million Capital Campaign which will allow the non-profit to purchase and renovate a handicapped-accessible facility located in Providence, and hire appropriate staff to deliver its expanded services and work closely with new families for their adult children’s futures.

Tickets for the gala are $50 per person. In addition to the Silent Auction, there will be a live auction hosted by auctioneer Bill Loehning. Bill and Nancy Gilbane have donated the grand prize of the evening, a one-week stay in their Barnagorteeny Cottage in beautiful Oughterard, Co. Galway, Ireland. Tickets for this raffle are $20 each or a book of 6 for $100.00 If you would like to attend the auction or purchase a ticket for the Irish Cottage raffle, please contact Donna M. McGowan, Capital Campaign Coordinator at 401 272-1600 x 117.
