PROVIDENCE — Only three weeks into the campaign, “Keep the Heat On” has already raised more than $17,000 to help struggling Rhode Islanders with heating assistance. The amount includes $1,000 or greater donations from Arlen Corporation, John Monk, Sts. Rose and Clement Parish and Sandra Gondusky.
Thus far, the campaign has raised $17,153. With matching grants from an anonymous donor and the Catholic Charity Fund, $51,549 has been made available for those individuals and families in need of assistance for gas, oil or electric bills.
According to statistics provided by the Interfaith Community Dire Emergency Fund, the office that administers “Keep the Heat On,” $58,367.66 has been provided to local utility and oil companies for heating assistance: $26,550.13 for oil, $22,387.62 for gas; and $9,429.91 for electricity.
“To continue Arlen Corporation’s long tradition of making charitable donations in the names of our clients at this time of year, please accept this donation in the spirit of Thanksgiving,” said Peter A. Sullivan, president of Arlen Corporation, a financial services firm, in a letter accompanying the donation. “We sense a deeper need this year, especially for assistance for our financially challenged neighbors to help with home heating costs … we appreciate that this initiative transcends all faiths and it is a way for us all to simply help those in need.”

St. Gregory the Great will hold its
annual Holiday Concert on Sunday,
December 16 from 4-5:30 p.m. to benefit the “Keep the Heat On”
campaign. The afternoon is presented by St. Gregory the Great Music Ministry featuring the Adult Choir, Children’s Choir, Youth Ensemble and Emmaus Ensemble.
