SPRED to sponsor children’s summer camp for the blind

PROVIDENCE — For the first time the Special Religious Education (SPRED) Office is sponsoring a two-week summer camp for blind children, 5 -15 years old. The National Federation of the Blind of Rhode Island will run the camp from August 8-19, 2016 at St. Anthony Church, 549 Plainfield St. A limited number of registrations are available. St. Ann Church to offer novena in honor of patron

PROVIDENCE — St. Ann Church will hold its annual novena in honor of St. Ann from July 18 through July 26. There will be a Mass with a healing service and Anointing of the Sick on Friday July 22. The novena will begin at 7 p.m. each night. The theme of this year’s novena will be the Jubilee Year of Mercy. For more information, call 861-5111.

SS. John and James Parish to host healing service

WEST WARWICK — SS. John and James Parish invites all to celebrate a Mass with healing service on Saturday, August 20 at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served in the school cafeteria following the Mass. Parish to host weekly Classic Car ‘Cruise Night’

CHEPACHET — St. Eugene Parish, 1251 Putnam Pike, will host a weekly ‘Cruise Night’ in the church parking lot each Friday from 4:30 p.m. to dusk. The event welcomes all classic and antique vehicles, cars or trucks and will feature music, food, raffles and door prizes.

111th annual St. Mary's Feast Italian Food and Music Festival

CRANSTON — The annual St. Mary's Feast Italian Food and Music Festival, Knightsville's Little Italy, will take place July 20-24,Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 11 p.m.; Friday 6 p.m. to midnight; Saturday 3 p.m. to midnight and Sunday noon to 11 p.m., with a fireworks show on Sunday at 10 p.m. The menu will feature Italian sausage and peppers, Philly cheese steak, fried calamari, raw and fried clams, eggplant and chicken Parmesan, cannoli and more. St. Matthias Ministry to host Mass for Recovery

PORSTMOUTH — A Mass for Recovery will be celebrated Sunday, July 24, at 5 p.m., at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road. This quarterly Mass is part of the St. Matthias Ministry within the Diocese of Providence. It focuses on assisting with prayer and encouragement to all who are recovering from addictions of any kind, as well as those suffering from any mental or emotional distress or anxiety. It is also for those who are friends and family of those in recovery, as they too benefit from coming together in prayer and praise of our God who brings healing to all. Westerly Church to celebrate annual feast and festival

WESTERLY — The 88th annual celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will take place at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 111 High St. The feast, which began in 1928 opens with Triduum Masses on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, July 13, 14, and 15 at 7 p.m. On Saturday, July 16, there will be a family festival beginning at noon until 10 p.m. on the church grounds. On Sunday, July 17, the 11 a.m. Mass will honor Our Lady of Mount Carmel followed by the annual street procession through the streets in the North End of town. Upon the procession's return to church Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will be held. The festivities conclude with a band concert and fireworks display at dusk at Cimalore Field, off Route One. The parish will also host an Italian Street Festival in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Saturday, July 16, from noon to 10 p.m. The event will feature favorite food specialties such as fried eggplant and sausage grinders, plus clams, baked goods and more. Summer Vespers Performances to be held

BARRINGTON — The Holy Angels Choir invites all to join in a series of Summer Vespers performances. “Evensong” is typically an evening service focusing on the singing of hymns as a reflective and prayerful act of devotion. There will be singing of beloved and well-known hymns, old and new. Donations will be accepted at the door for the Holy Angels Social Outreach Ministry. St. Pius V Church to present movie night highlighting Divine Mercy Image

PROVIDENCE — On Friday, July 22 at 7 p.m. at St. Pius V, 55 Elmhurst Ave., all are invited to watch the all-new documentary about the “untold story of an unknown masterpiece.” A team of film makers travel through Europe and the United States uncovering the details of the little-known "Original Image of Divine Mercy." Viewers will learn all about this incredible tale and the Original Image of Divine Mercy. This is a free showing and everyone is welcome.

Parish to host all-day confession event

EDGEWOOD — Continuing with its series of special events to mark the Jubilee Year of Mercy, St. Paul Parish will host a Day of Confession on Wednesday, July 20. Opportunities for parishioners and visitors to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available during three separate time periods to accommodate work and other schedules. The church is located at the intersection of Broad Street and Warwick Avenue in the Edgewood section of Cranston. The first session will be from 7 - 9 a.m., followed by 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 7 - 8 p.m. Mid-day confessions will be before and after the church’s regularly scheduled weekday 12:05 p.m. Mass. Jesus Saviour Church to host annual summer bazaar

NEWPORT— Jesus Saviour Church, 1 Vernon Ave., will hold its annual summer bazaar on Thursday, July 28 – Saturday, July 30, from 7 - 11 p.m. each evening. The bazaar will feature popular bingo, pull tabs and assorted game booths. Homemade fava, chourico sandwiches and pastries are the specialty of the kitchen every night.
