Women’s Guild to host Christmas Party

Thanksgiving Family Bingo at St. Adalbert’s
PROVIDENCE — St. Adalbert’s Parish, 866 Atwells Ave. will host a Thanksgiving Family Bingo on Saturday, Nov. 21, beginning at 6 p.m., the kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Along with bingo games, the evening will feature a cash and basket raffles, as well as Polish – American foods, with take-out available. Saint John the Baptist to hold Christmas Bazaar
PAWTUCKET — Saint John the Baptist Church, 69 Quincy Ave, will hold their Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Bazaar will feature a 50/50 raffle, basket raffles, the sale of new and used items, food and more. Pro-Life Sidewalk Counseling Training
PROVIDENCE — Servants of Christ for Life will host a free training seminar on how to most effectively counsel and pray on the sidewalk outside an abortion center. The local pro-life group has teamed up with Dallas-based "Sidewalk Advocates for Life" to bring this very informative and important seminar to Rhode Island. The event is completely free and will include a catered breakfast and lunch. Mass for the Intentions of those in recovery
WEST WARWICK — In cooperation with the Providence Diocese of St. Matthias Recovery Ministry, the next quarterly Mass for those in recovery on the West Bay will be at St. Mary’s Church, 68 Church St., on Saturday Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. This Mass focuses on recovery from alcoholism, addictions, as well as mental/emotional distress and anxiety. Those struggling with addiction and alcoholism, the families of those in recovery, parishioners of St. Mary’s and the entire community is invited to attend. These Masses will continue to be celebrated each quarter. This Mass also satisfies the Sunday obligation. There will also be an opportunity for Anointing of the Sick during the service. East Bay Hope and Cope Group meeting scheduled
PORTSMOUTH — The next meeting of the East Bay Hope and Cope Group focusing on Roman Catholic Spirituality will take place on Sunday, Nov. 29, at 5 p.m. in the St. Barnabas Church. The meeting is open to everyone especially all supporting those in recovery or in recovery themselves. The East Bay Hope and Cope Group is held in the Chapel Meeting Room, under the Chapel, from 5 to 6 p.m. This program is free, and no registration is required. Coffee will be provided. Lincoln parishes to highlight St. Luke’s Gospel of Mercy
LINCOLN — St. Ambrose parish in Albion and St. James parish in Manville will offer three evening sessions during the season of Advent on the Gospel of St. Luke, often labeled The Gospel of Mercy, in celebration of the Jubilee Year of Mercy announced by Pope Francis and beginning throughout the world this December. The Scriptural lessons will follow the 7 p.m. Mass at St. James Church, 33 Division St., Manville, on Thursdays, December 3, 10, and 17, from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. The church is readily accessible. Father John A. Kiley, weekly columnist for the Rhode Island Catholic, will lead the three discussions emphasizing the Evangelist’s theme of mercy, the Biblical “loving kindness” of God toward all humanity, especially the poor, the foreigner, the handicapped, the outcast and notably, women. Prayer Service to be held in memory of 35th Anniversary of U.S. Churchwomen killing
PAWTUCKET — St. Joseph Church, 195 Walcott St., will observe the 35th anniversary of the four U.S. churchwomen who were brutally killed in El Salvador in 1980 with a prayer service, celebrating the lives of Dorothy Kazel, Maura Clarke, Ita Ford and Jean Donovan. All are invited.

WEST WARWICK — The Deanery IV Holy Hour for Life for December will be held at SS Peter and Paul parish, 48 Highland St., at 7 p.m. on the Feast of Our Lady of Loreto, Thursday, Dec. 10. Grand Opening Planned for ‘A Special Place’
WOONSOCKET — A Grand Opening and Open House is scheduled for Saturday Nov. 21 for the recently relocated and expanded greeting card and inspirational gift retailer, ‘A Special Place.’ Celebrating its 20th year, the business is now located at 719 Front St. in Woonsocket. Kicking off the festivities will be a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. by city and local small business organization officials. His Excellency Louis E. Gelineau, Bishop Emeritus, will preside at a blessing assisted by other area clergy. Store founders Gertrude Franco and Armand Froment, will be special guests. Also on hand will be three local authors, Thea Fielding-Lowe, Phyllis Calvey and Leo C. Frisk.
