Benefit Concert

NORTH KINGSTOWN — St. Bernard Church offers a benefit concert featuring Sign of Life, the music ministry from St. John Vianney Church in Cumberland on Sunday, October 21 at 6 p.m. Denis Robichaud will lead his band in a concert of praise and worship music. There will be a reception immediately following the performance for anyone interested in learning more about Workcamp. A free-will offering will be collected and proceeds will benefit the 2008 Narragansett Bay Workcamp.

Walks for Life

WESTERLY — St. Pius X Church will sponsor their seventh annual Walk for Life, October 21 following the 10:30 a.m. Mass. The three-mile walk will start and finish at St. Pius X Church, and include a brief prayer service at the Tomb of the Unborn in St. Sebastian Cemetery. Refreshments will be served following the walk. All are welcome to join this witness to the sanctity of human life. Proceeds will benefit local community ministries including Mother of Life Center, Project Gabriel, and Rachel’s Vineyard. NEWPORT — The Mother of Life Center will sponsor a “Rosary Walk for Life” on October 21, after the 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Augustin Church, Carroll and Harrison avenues. The seven-mile walk will proceed down Ocean Drive. Rosaries and refreshments will be provided. All proceeds will benefit the Mother of Life Center in Providence. For more information call, 421-0821.

Fall Festival

PROVIDENCE — The Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul will host a fall festival on October 20 and 21, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. The event will feature a penny social, flea market, bake sale, Christmas sale, crafts, food and more. For more information contact the Cathedral office at 331-2434.

Children’s Hour of Classical Music

PAWTUCKET — The Catherine Carvalho Music series at St. Mary Parish will present The Children’s Hour, a program of classical music about children on October 21, 7 p.m. The program will include works by Bernstein, Fauré, Ives, Ravel, and Schumann performed by Joseph A. Carvalho and Marco LeCerc, piano and Jeanne Maciel, soprano. The concert is free, donations are accepted. For tickets, call 722-5425.

Ham and bean supper

Christmas Bazaar

CRANSTON — St. Ann Parish Women’s Guild will sponsor a Christmas Bazaar at the church, October 20, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. The bazaar will include raffles, handmade crafts, gifts, a penny social, a white elephant table, baked goods and other food and beverages.

St. Mary Parish Autumn Angel Bazaar

WEST WARWICK — St Mary's 11th Annual Autumn Angel Bazaar will be held October 27 from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 28th from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The bazaar will take place in the church hall at 70 Church Street. The event will feature a penny social table, craft items, baked goods, a children's booth, and an expanded kitchen serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Vendors Wanted

CRANSTON — St. Ann Church has space available for vendors interested in selling crafts at its annual bazaar. Set up hours are October 19, 2007 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The bazaar runs from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on October 20. For more information, call the parish office at 942-2767 or 942-9069.

Holy Family Parish Fall Bazaar

WOONSOCKET — Holy Family Parish, 414 South Main St., will hold its annual Fall Bazaar on Saturday, October 20, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, October 21, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in the church hall. There will be exceptional gifts for our major raffles and several penny socials and specialty booths.

Bowling Day

CRANSTON/JOHNSTON — The Social Supportive Ministry of St. Brigid Church, 1231 Plainfield Street, is sponsoring fun bowling for parishioners, families and friends on October 21 from 3-5 p.m. at the Johnston Town Hall Lanes, 1463 Atwood Ave. Tickets are available following Saturday and Sunday Masses. American Band performance

CUMBERLAND — The American Band of Providence will perform at St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, on October 28, 3 p.m. The performance will include “Divertimento for Winds and Percussion,” whose composer, Roger Clichy, will talk briefly about the piece. Tickets can be purchased at the door and all proceeds will benefit the Dr. Francis M. Marciniak Memorial Scholarship.

Sacred Triduum

PROVIDENCE – St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will hold a Sacred Triduum to St. Jude Oct. 23-25, Mass and novena, 6 p.m. Coffee hour and grand raffle will follow the Wednesday night novena. For information, call 861-7265.

Home for Hope

PROVIDENCE – On Saturday, September 29, the first major fundraising effort for the Home for Hope Foundation was held at the Dillon Council Knights of Columbus. The Home for Hope will comprise both an orphanage and medical clinic in Isingwu Orafite, Nigeria. The founder of this initiative is Father Jude O. Onuchukwu, a judge on the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of the Diocese and resident at Holy Name Parish. Support has come from Bishop Hilary of the Diocese of Nnewi, Nigeria and Bishop Thomas J. Tobin. The land has already been purchased and construction is scheduled to begin in November. For more information, call Father Onuchukwu at 272-4515.

Taste of Italy
