St. Michael Church to sponsor St. Patrick’s Day Party

CRANSTON — St. Michael Church, Providence, will sponsor a St. Patrick’s Day Party at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet on March 17. Doors open at 1 p.m.; John Connors & the Irish Express will entertain from 2 – 5 p.m. The Dierdre Goulding School of Irish Dancers will perform from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.; followed by The Garda Band from 7 – 10 p.m. Children under 12 are admitted free. ‘Autism Eats’ coming to East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE — St. Brendan’s Church is collaborating with Autism Eats, an organization that helps promote and provide autism-friendly and non-judgmental environments for family dining, socializing and connecting with others who share similar joys and challenges. Dinners are served by reservation only and a set per-person price has been negotiated with the restaurant in advance. The dinner will take place on Tuesday, March 21 at Chelo’s Hometown Bar and Grille, 911 Warren Ave., in East Providence. R.I. Knights to host Day of Recollection for all Catholics

WARWICK — The Knights of Columbus councils throughout Rhode Island cordially invite all Catholics to participate in their annual Day of Recollection on Saturday, March 18, at 9 a.m., at St. Gregory the Great parish hall, located at 360 Cowesett Road. The day is hosted by State Chaplain Father Joseph Paquette and will be conducted by Deacon Paul Lambert from St. John Vianney Parish in Cumberland. NET Ministries Retreat dates for Fall 2017 – Spring 2018

PROVIDENCE — NET (National Evangelization Teams) Ministries is an international Catholic youth ministry that is committed to challenging young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the Church, leading approximately 1,000 retreats annually. Each year, young adult volunteers are sent out in teams across the United States to conduct middle school and high school retreats for Catholic teens. The 14 NET teams share their faith with 75,000 youth nationally on an annual basis. Drama, music, games, small group discussions and large group presentations are all used to present the Gospel in a dynamic way. PC professor to discuss ‘what every Christian should know about Islam’

WAKEFIELD — Dr. Sandra Keating will present a discussion entitled “What Every Christian Should Know About Islam” on Monday, March 20, 7 p.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Dr. Keating, a professor at Providence College, received her Ph.D. at Catholic University of America and teaches and publishes in the area of comparative religion with an emphasis on Catholic-Muslim relations, particularly theological exchange in the early medieval period. Dr. Keating is a member of the USCCB Catholic-Muslim dialogue group and has served as a Consultor on the Vatican Commission for Religious Relations with Muslims.

40 Days for Life Fall Campaign begins

PROVIDENCE — The Office of Life and Family Ministry and R.I. Right to Life will co-sponsor the Lenten campaign which will take place now through Palm Sunday, April 9. The office is asking parishes to adopt a day or for individuals to adopt an hour for prayer at Planned Parenthood, 111 Point St., Providence, or the Women’s Medical Clinic, located at 1725 Broad St., Cranston during this 40 -day period. St. Mary Church to host corned beef and cabbage dinner

St. Joseph’s to host annual Spring Dinner

PASCOAG — St. Joseph’s annual Spring Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, March 18, immediately following the 5:30 p.m. Mass in the church hall. St. Theresa offering fish and chips every Friday during Lent

A Celebration of St. Patrick’s Day and St. Joseph’s Day

PROVIDENCE — St. Pius V Young Adults will host author Leah Libresco on March 23 at 8 p.m., in St. Pius V Church hall. Libresco converted from atheism to Catholicism at 23 and had to learn how to have a relationship with God from scratch. She’ll talk about learning how to pray as a beginner and offer advice for how best to use Lent to start new habits of making time with God, especially trying prayers that have frustrated you before. Lenten Parish Mission to preach on ‘Mary, the Model of Discipleship’

RUMFORD — Father Jeremy Rodrigues, S.T.L., Director of the Office of Worship, will preach the 2017 Lenten Mission at St. Margaret Parish, 1098 Pawtucket Ave. Celebrating the Marian Year in the Diocese of Providence, Father Rodrigues will preach on “Mary, the Model of Discipleship.” The mission will be on March 19, 20 and 21 at 7 p.m. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will conclude the mission on Tuesday evening. Lenten mission to feature internationally known liturgical composer

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 47 South Sixth St., New Bedford, Mass., will host a Lenten Mission on Saturday, March 25, at 6 p.m., and Sunday, March 26, at 3 p.m., featuring guest speaker Grayson Warren Brown. Brown is an internationally known liturgical composer, author and recording artist, who began his liturgical ministry in the late 1960s in a small inner-city parish in New York City where he learned early how significant an authentic, spirited experience of worship can be to people in need of hope.
