Friends' Fund Dinner Auction to benefit SVDP RI

NORTH KINGSTOWN — The Friends of Saint Vincent de Paul, Rhode Island, are hosting a Dinner Auction to benefit the organization that in 2016 provided $2.3 million worth of food and nearly $1 million in direct aid to Rhode Island families in need for electricity, food, clothing and more. Also during the event, two members of the Society and Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will be honored with the Fredric Ozanam Lifetime Achievement Award for their donation and service to the poor. Proceeds from Friends’ Fund Benefit will help SVDP's 34 parish-based conferences which continue to serve Rhode Islanders by helping to meet basic human needs, such as housing and heat. St. Pius V Young Adults to host a talk by Kathryn Jean Lopez entitled 'Love and Faith in the Time of Trump'

PROVIDENCE – On Thursday, May 18, from 8 – 9 p.m., St. Pius V Young Adults will host a talk by Kathryn Jean Lopez entitled "Love and Faith in the Time of Trump," in the church hall. Kathryn Jean Lopez is a senior fellow at the National Review Institute and editor-at-large of National Review. Besides National Review and NRO, her work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, The Women's Quarterly, The National Catholic Register, Our Sunday Visitor, American Outlook, New York Press, and The Human Life Review, among other publications. Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Support Group offered

NORTH PROVIDENCE — The Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Support Group, offered by the Office of Life and Family, will be held at the St. Anthony Church Parish Center, Pope St., Thursday evenings, May 4 through June 22, 7 - 8:30 p.m. This eight-week support group provides a peaceful environment for people to learn about grief and to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings, all with the spiritual comfort of our Catholic faith. This group will be facilitated by the St. Pius V Bereavement Ministry and is most appropriate for adults at least three months beyond their loss. St. John Vianney Church to offer spiritual retreat for grieving parents

CUMBERLAND — On Saturday, April 29, St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, will offer a one-day spiritual retreat for grieving parents from 9:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. The retreat is open to anyone whose child of any age has died by any cause, no matter how long ago. Daughters of Isabella to host spring fundraiser

Program to enrich journey of the sacrament of marriage

WARWICK— The Diocese of Providence’s Office of Life and Family, is pleased to announce the “To Love and To Cherish” program for Catholic marriages. St. Martha’s Church to celebrate Feast of Divine Mercy

EAST PROVIDENCE — St. Martha’s Church will celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy on Sunday, April 23. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 2 p.m. and the Divine Mercy Image will be blessed. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available from 2 - 3 p.m., the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be sung at 3 p.m. and the rosary will be recited at 4 p.m., followed by Benediction. Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m.

St. John Paul II Knights of Columbus to host Spring Breakfast

Mass for Recovery scheduled

PORTSMOUTH — The next Mass for Recovery is scheduled for Sunday, April 30, at 5 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road. All are welcome. This quarterly Mass is part of the St. Matthias Ministry of the Diocese of Providence. Knights to host Portuguese breakfast

Learn to build bridges, not walls

Annual dinner to benefit Soup Kitchen

WEST WARWICK — The West Bay District St. Vincent de Paul Society will be holding its Ninth Annual Pat Collins Dinner to raise money for the Soup Kitchen, which is held each Saturday at the West Warwick Senior Center. Project FAITH to offer special one-day seminar on healthcare

PROVIDENCE — All are invited to join Servants of Christ for Life for their Spring Rosary Novena. Learn about different Cultures at the ‘We are One’ event at St. Patrick Church

PROVIDENCE — St. Patrick Church will present ‘We are One’ on Saturday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Patrick Academy gym, 244 Smith St. All are invited to celebrate the diversity and history of the parish and the state. Holy Spirit to hold ‘Springtime Festival’

CENTRAL FALLS — Holy Spirit Parish will hold a ‘Springtime Festival’ on Friday, May 5, from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m., and Saturday, May 6, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event will be held in the church hall at 1030 Dexter St., and the funds raised will be used to help pay for parish expenses. Various games of chance and many interesting booths have been organized to offer something for people of all ages and tastes. Families will have more then 25 activities to choose from and enjoy, including Loteria (Spanish-style Bingo), roll-ups, a Penny Social, a $2,500 Money Prize Raffle and a new horse race game. This year, there will be a raffle for an Amazon Echo. The event will feature many fun activities for children as well, including basketball, a duck pond and a fishing boat. Saint Mary’s/Saint James Parish to host evening mission on work of angels

CHARLESTOWN — Saint Mary’s/Saint James Parish will host an evening mission on April 25 and 26, beginning at 6:30 p.m. each night in Saint James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Road. On Tuesday, Father Wolfgang Seitz, National Director of Opus Sanctorum Angelorum, of Carrollton, Ohio, will offer a presentation about the works of the Holy Angels and the role guardian angels play in our lives.
