Black Catholic Ministry Mass, Celebration

PROVIDENCE — The Office of Black Catholic Ministry, in conjunction with St. Michael Parish, 239 Oxford St., will sponsor the annual Black History Month Mass and Celebration on February 16, 5:30 p.m. The Mass will be followed by a program celebrating black history and will include song, readings, presentations, prayer and reflection. This year’s national theme for Black History Month is “Black History Then and Now: We Have Come A Long Way.” The guest speaker will be Dr. Camille Brown, Education Coordinator for the diocesan Catholic School Office. Holy Hour for Vocations

PROVIDENCE — The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia will sponsor a Holy Hour for Vocations, February 19, 7-8 p.m., at St. Pius V Church, 55 Elmhurst Avenue. Participants will pray for an increase in religious and priestly vocations. For more information, call 383-7605.

Divine Mercy Day of Reflection

PROVIDENCE — Holy Name of Jesus Church, 99 Camp St., will hold a Divine Mercy Day of Reflection, February 16, 1-5 p.m., in the church. Marian Father Seraphim Michalenko will preside. The event will begin with a talk on Divine Mercy, followed by Benediction and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, confession and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Roast beef dinner

St. Edmund’s Lenten Program

MYSTIC, CONN. — St. Edmund’s Retreat House at Enders Island is holding its annual Lenten Fish Fries every Friday during Lent until March 21, 6 p.m. The program begins with Stations of the Cross in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Assumption, followed by a Fish Fry, 6:30 p.m., in the Flanagan Dining Hall of Enders House. PORTSMOUTH —The Confraternity of Penitents will sponsor a Lenten Day of Reflection, March 8, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., at Portsmouth Abbey School, Cory’s Lane. The program will be offered by Carmelite Father John of the Trinity and will include two conferences, confession, prayer, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Stations of the Cross and time for personal reflection.
