Lenten Twilight Retreat

PROVIDENCE – St. Mary Church, 538 Broadway, will hold a Lenten Twilight Retreat, March 4, 5:30-8:30 p.m. The retreat will be facilitated by Franciscan Father Charles O’Connor and Mercy Sister Pat Otillio, and will begin with a light supper in the Parish Ministry Office, followed by prayer, a screening of portions of the film “The Power of Forgiveness,” reflection and sharing, and a closing ritual. WinterSing 2008

GREENVILLE – The annual WinterSing for diocesan pastoral musicians will be held at St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, March 2, 5 p.m. Registration deadline is February 25 and advance registration is required; there will be no tickets sold at the door. St. Brigid Festival

JOHNSTON – The Social Supportive Ministry of St. Brigid Church, 1231 Plainfield St., will hold an Italian Festival, March 30, 12:30 p.m., in the church hall. The ethnic dinner will be prepared and donated to the parish by Marchetti’s Restaurant, Cranston. Entertainment will be provided by the St. Brigid Tenors and the Singing Nuns. Lenten Missions

ALBION – The Parish of St. Ambrose will host a Lenten Mission entitled "Seeing is Believing" conducted by Father George Ratzmann, S.T.D., Rector of the Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Florida. The Mission will begin at all Weekend Masses March 1 & 2. There will be Mission Masses each night Monday, March 3 through Wednesday, March 5th at 7 p.m. Confessions will be heard by visiting clergy on Wednesday, March 5th beginning at 6 p.m. Please join us.

WARWICK – St. Timothy parish, 1799 Warwick Ave., will hold its annual Lenten Mission Monday-Wednesday March 3-5 at 7p.m. each evening. Father Anthony Mancini will be this year’s mission preacher. Topics are to include: ‘Why the Mass?’, ‘The real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist’, and ‘Eucharistic etiquette.’ Confessions will be heard each evening at 6 p.m.

Easter cookies on sale

JOHNSTON – St Brigid Church, 1231 Plainfield Street, will be offering their popular home made Easter Cookies on Palm Sunday weekend after the following Masses: Saturday, March 15 after the 5 p.m. Mass, and Sunday, March 16 after the 8 and 10 a.m. Masses. Knights of Columbus Breakfast

NORTH KINGSTOWN – The Knights of Columbus will have a Breakfast on Sunday, March 9th, from 7:45-1:30 a.m. at the Council Hall, 1265 Tower Hill Road. Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Pancakes, Beans, Home Fries, Juice, Coffee and Tea will be served. Cost is $6 per person, $4 for children 12 and under and children 6 and under are free.

RI Civic Chorale & Orchestra

St. Joseph dedication

On Friday February 29 at 4 p.m. the newly-finished church addition/renovation at St. Joseph parish, North Scituate, will be dedicated and blessed. On hand will be the church pastor, Reverend Roger Houle as well as Monsignor Darcy from the Diocese of Providence. This will be the official opening of the new Parish Center, which has doubled the hall space for the church.

“We are a growing parish and we are very excited about the new parish center. We are eager to bless the facility and continue God’s work in our community,” said Father Houle. “I am sure a multitude of parishioners will join us for this most important dedication.”

The parish is located at 144 Danielson Pike.

Theology professor leads annual mission

PROVIDENCE – Father Peter Batts, assistant professor of theology at Providence College, will be preaching a Lenten Mission at Holy Name Church, 99 Camp St., Providence March 10-12 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Fr. Batts frequently preaches retreats for religious and lay people.
