PROVIDENCE – On May 29 at Holy Ghost School in Providence, the Office of Stewardship and Development and officials from the Catholic School Office will join Bishop Thomas J. Tobin and business leaders to learn more about the RI tuition tax credit.

The tax credit was implemented in 2007 in order to give businesses an opportunity to support private education and receive up to a 90 percent tax credit.

The scholarship-granting organization of the Diocese of Providence is FACE of RI, Financial Aid for Children’s Education, and to date FACE has provided tuition assistance to 52 students throughout the Diocese.

“The tax credit provides an excellent opportunity for businesses to invest in Catholic education and that support has a direct and positive impact on students and families.” said Anthony Gwiazdowski, director of the Office of Stewardship and Development. “We look forward to providing this presentation to give businesses a better understanding of how the tax credit works.”

This program has had an impact on students that desire to attend a Catholic Institution, as noted by St. Raphael tenth grader, Sharea.

“I attended public school through grade 10, and coming to a Catholic School has been the best thing that could have happened. It has provided me with a challenging education and a wonderful family atmosphere,” she said.”

The seminar and presentation will begin at 6 p.m. Please RSVP to the Carol Costa at 401-277-2121. For further information contact the Office of Stewardship and Development at 401-277-2121- or visit HYPERLINK "http://www.faceofri.org" www.faceofri.org.
