Father Mancini to host saints series

Posted

PROVIDENCE — The Diocese of Providence’s Office of Communications has announced a series about canonized saints entitled “The Saints Always Belong to the Present,” hosted by Father Anthony Mancini, rector of the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul. The series will air on Mondays, beginning October 29 at 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Rhode Island State Interconnect Cox Channel 14 and Full Channel 59.

In the series, Father Mancini discusses the lives of various saints and the significance of these men and women in today’s world. He talks about their differences and how they faced the same temptations and struggles that we all do.

“There is the danger that we might relegate the saints to statues of plastic and word,” said Father Mancini. “They were and are real people of flesh and blood like you and me and we have much to learn from them.”

The first saint discussed is Mary, the Blessed Mother and her relationship to Jesus. The series continues with St. Peter on November 5; St. Paul the Apostle, November 12; and St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony on November 19.

This program was produced by the diocesan Office of Communications with partial funding from the annual Catholic Communication Campaign collection.
