Parishioners join in celebrating and welcoming their new shepherd Father Vilmar Orsolin, C.S., who was installed as pastor of St. Bartholomew Parish in Providence on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 8.

Bishop Robert C. Evans concelebrated the Mass and joined in welcoming Father Orsolin, calling it a day of joy for the parish. In his homily, Bishop Evans said to those gathered that in order to lead this church community in the ways of faith, parishioners must be of one mind and heart.

“Father needs the cooperation and assistance, the advice and friendship of others who have the good of the parish at heart,” said Bishop Evans. “Your support and encouragement of your new shepherd will be essential in his work as he seeks to lead, teach and minister as a priest of Jesus Christ. Today, Father stands before you publicly to profess our common faith, and under solemn oath, he promises to teach all that the Catholic Church holds dear and promises to pass it on from generation to generation.”
