Going Solar at St. Brendan Parish

Posted

St. Brendan Parish in Riverside has completed phase one of a three-phase project of complete conversion to solar power. When online this summer, the system will generate enough electricity to supply the entire parish needs, including the on-site soup kitchen, day shelter and food pantry.

Father John Codega, pastor, said, “Not only was it a great economical decision for us but as stewards of God’s creation it is also a responsible one — to set an example of environmental awareness taking the lead from Pope Francis.”

With the help of Deacon Greg Albanese, project developer of Renewable Energy Services of New England, the parish entered into an agreement with Renewable Energy Services of New England to make the project possible.

St. Brendan Parish will host Deacon Albanese, on March 31, 7 p.m., in the parish center, first floor (former school building), for an information session for anyone considering solar-electric power for their homes or businesses.

Anyone unable to attend the information night may contact Deacon Greg at greg.albanese@resneinc.com for more information about solar for their homes or businesses.
