PROVIDENCE — Donald Kavanagh, principal of La Salle Academy, announced on March 29 that Grace T. Connolly of Barrington; Timothy J. Nigro of Cumberland; Madalyn J. Redding of Hope; and James Linklater Truslow VI of Warwick have been named Finalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. A certificate of merit from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these scholastically talented seniors.

“The young men and women being named Finalists have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

The selection of some 7,500 Merit Scholarship winners from the group of more than 15,000 Finalists is now in progress.
