LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Live the Beatitudes rather than expect leaders to do so

To the Editor:

Let’s say you agreed with almost all of the positions of presidential candidate “A” and approved of “A’s” actions, behavior and legislative background. You disagreed with almost all of candidate’s “B’s” positions with one exception. Millions of lives will be affected by this one difference between “A” and “B.” That difference, of course, is slavery. Could you stomach voting for a candidate who approved of slavery and would fight to keep it legal? Do you still think it’s irresponsible to be a one-issue voter? Perhaps we, as individuals and as church, temple, mosque, etc., can take up the slack and live the Beatitudes rather than expect the government to (though I’d like that).
