PROVIDENCE — The National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry is recognizing eleven individuals for their significant and outstanding contributions to the field of Catholic youth ministry. Awards are given in multiple categories and will be presented at the biennial National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry (NCCYM) held in Tampa, Florida, December 6-8.

Patricia Kane, associate director of Youth Ministry and director of the Rejoice in Hope Youth Center for the Diocese of Providence will be honored with an award in the category of Regional Leadership.

“It is such an honor to be receiving this award from the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry,” said Kane. “I am humbled to be in the company of so many great people who have also received this award. I feel very blessed to continue to have the opportunity to serve in youth ministry in the Diocese of Providence for these many years.”

For each category, individuals were nominated by colleagues in the field of youth ministry. The awards committee reviewed each nomination, carefully selected the recipients through a discernment process, and presented them for final approval to the NFCYM board of directors.

Louise ‘Duce’ Dussault, director of Catholic Youth Ministry for the diocese, who also received the award in 2012 for her own significant contributions, shared that Kane is an“exemplary leader” in youth ministry.

“Our diocese is very blessed to have such a powerful witness and mentor on our team,” Dussault said. “May God grant her many more years in her advocacy for adolescents and those who work with them.”

The NFCYM, a nonprofit organization, is a broad, internationally recognized leadership alliance for Catholic youth ministry. Its mission is to “support and strengthen those who accompany young people as they encounter and follow Jesus Christ.”
