Offering their prayers and support for Human Life

With the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul in the background across Rte. 95, members of the Diocese of Providence’s Human Life Guild offer prayers outside Planned Parenthood at their recent kickoff for the annual 40 Days for Life campaign. Human Life Guild Director Carol Owens said that more people than ever are expressing serious concerns about proposed legislation in the General Assembly aimed at expanding abortion rights in Rhode Island. She noted that turnout for the peaceful and prayerful gatherings outside the facility that offers abortion services has increased during 40 Days for Life. “We really aim to have someone here for 30-60 minutes each Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.,” said Owens. “I think this year, because of what’s going on, more people are coming forward to help us.” Owens encourages volunteers interested in helping the Guild’s pro-life activities to sign up in pairs so that no one is ever alone while establishing a presence and praying the rosary outside the facility.
