On Wednesday, Oct. 24, Our Lady of Mercy School and parish community gathered at 1149 Restaurant in East Greenwich for its annual Grill the Priests event. Organized by members of the school’s Parent Teacher Group, Father Bernard Healey, pastor, and Father Joshua Barrow, associate pastor, the evening was a success due in part to the spirited panel as well as the engaging attendees from the school and parish. More than 100 attendees gathered in an intimate candlelight setting with a private bar to enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening. The priests on the panel included Father Nicholas Fleming, associate pastor at Saints John and Paul Parish, Coventry; Father Patrick Briscoe, O.P., associate pastor St. Pius V. Parish, Providence; Father Nathan Ricci, assistant chancellor of the Diocese of Providence; Father David Gaffney, rector of the Seminary of Our Lady of Providence; and Father Barrow. Father Healey moderated the pious group on questions that were either directed specifically to them, or based on their area of expertise. The evening was filled with faith, light-hearted joking among the brother priests and laughter and frequent applause from the attendees.
