Please support your diocesan newspaper this Christmas

Dear Friends:

“And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.”

These words of St. John’s Gospel summarize the great mystery of faith we celebrate during the Advent/Christmas Season: Jesus Christ, the Word of God came down from heaven and lives on in our midst. They also remind us that it is the work of the Church in every age to preach and proclaim that Word, a mission that is fulfilled in many diverse ways.

It is within that ministry of proclaiming the Word of God that the Rhode Island Catholic finds its purpose. Our diocesan newspaper makes the Word of God tangible and accessible in offering comprehensive religious news, engaging editorial opinion, and dependable formation about our Catholic Faith.

Convinced of the unique role it plays, I earnestly ask you to consider a special Christmas gift to the Rhode Island Catholic. This week and next, you will find envelopes included with the newspaper to facilitate your contribution. Donations can also be made online at www.thericatholic.com/donate.html. I will be personally grateful for whatever gift you might be able to give - $10, $25, $50, $100 or, perhaps even more. Every single gift makes a difference and will help our paper fulfill its essential work.

Thank you very much for your consideration. I pray that in this holy season Jesus, the Word of God, will bestow upon you and your family his very special love, peace and joy!
