Refurbished cross and tower dedicated to Prout School founders

The recently refurbished cross and tower at The Prout School was dedicated on October 19 in a formal ceremony to the Sisters of the Cross and Passion. The Sisters of the Cross and Passion founded the school, originally known as The Prout Memorial School for Girls, in 1966. The ceremony marked the culmination of a two-year campaign to raise the funds to scrape and paint the iconic cross and tower at the center of the school. Donors to the project included alumni from virtually all of Prout’s alumni classes. Sister Bernadette Hughes, CP spoke on behalf of the 14 sisters in attendance, “We are honored and privileged that the Cross, which is of such significance to us, is being dedicated to the Sisters of the Cross and Passion.” A bronze plaque, newly installed in the courtyard that houses the cross and tower, permanently marks the occasion and includes the words “In thanksgiving for the sisters’ faith, vision and industry in establishing The Prout School in 1966.” Above, Sisters of the Cross and Passion are pictured at The Prout School for the dedication ceremony.
