Remembering the sacrifice, lives lost on 9/11 anniversary

St. Margaret School students and faculty, families and local police, fire and first responders lifted their hearts in prayer, through poetry and patriotic song to honor all the heroes of September 11, 2001, on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks, 17 years ago. The school community also paid tribute to their own hero, alumni Lance Corporal Eric Valdepenas, who was killed in action in Iraq in 2006 at the age of 21. His memory remains at St. Margaret in a memorial in the school entry way, a tree planted on school grounds in his name, and an award given annually at the 8th grade awards night in his honor.
