Sister Ann Therese McCaffrey

HOLYOKE, MASS. — St. Joseph Sister Ann Therese McCaffrey, formerly known as Sister Lawrence Joseph, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died October 15 at Mont Marie Health Care Center. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph for 76 years.

Born in Fall River, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Jane (Devlin) McCaffrey.

Sister McCaffrey was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart High School, Pawtucket, and earned a bachelor of arts degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee, Mass.

Sister McCaffrey ministered as a teacher in schools conducted by her religious community in Massachusetts and at the former Sacred Heart School, Pawtucket. She also served as a teacher and librarian at St. Rose of Lima School, Pawtucket, and retired to St. Francis Convent, Warwick in 1993. She moved to Mont Marie Retirement Residence in 1997.

She is survived by a niece, Helen Ann LaFrances of Little Compton.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 17 in Mont Marie Chapel. Burial was in Mont Marie Cemetery.
