St. Ann Church to host Fish and Chips dinner throughout Lent

PROVIDENCE — St. Ann Church will host a Fish and Chips dinner every Friday during Lent from 5:30 - 6:45 p.m., in their lower church hall, 280 Hawkins St. Please use the side elevator entrance on Russo St. Immediately following dinner are Stations of the Cross in the upper church at 7 p.m.

Fish and Chips dinners at St. Elizabeth Church

BRISTOL —The Santo Cristo Feast Committee of St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., will host Fish and Chips dinners during Lent. Dinners will be available in the auditorium for take-out or to dine in from 5 - 7:30 p.m. on Fridays through April 3. On the menu will be fish ’n chips, Shrimp Mozambique, hake, chicharros, and Blount’s clam chowder. You may place your order in advance by calling John at 401-749-0109. The proceeds from these dinners will help to offset the cost of their annual feast which will take place the weekend of June 12-14. Free Income Tax Preparation

PROVIDENCE — Amos House, a fully handicap-accessible agency at 460 Pine Street in Providence, prepares free income tax returns for those who earned $56,000 or less in 2019. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening appointments from 4 p.m. on may be made through April 15 by calling 401-272-0220. Amos House will also host Saturday walk-in-only sessions from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on March 14 and April 11. Other free tax sites in R.I. and Mass. may be found by calling the number 211.

Lincoln Knights to host clam cake and chowder dinner

LINCOLN —The Lincoln Council Knights of Columbus will host an all you can eat clam cake and chowder dinner on Friday, March 13, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the council home, 171 Jenckes Hill Road. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling 333-1492.

Catholic Underground

PROVIDENCE — Catholic Underground will take place on Saturday, March 14 at St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., beginning with Holy Hour at 7:30 p.m., followed by a musical performance at 9 p.m. by The Bad Habits of St. Pius V Parish.

Knights of Columbus to host Irish dinner

CENTRAL FALLS — Members of the Sullivan Council 2700 of the Knights of Columbus will hold a dinner fundraiser to support the organization’s charitable events. A Saint Patrick’s Irish dinner featuring corned beef or ham, and cabbage, will take place on Sunday, March 15 from noon - 4 p.m., at the council home, 20 Claremont St. To purchase tickets or for more information, call Leo Larivee at 401-641-3989.

Shroud of Turin Presentation

EAST PROVIDENCE — A presentation on the Shroud of Turin will be shown at Saint Martha Church on Sunday, March 15 at 6 p.m. Massimo Paris has studied all aspects of the Holy Shroud, and will describe its many special features using a display of a full-size replica and video images. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church to show ‘Unplanned’’

BRISTOL — A celebration for life including the showing of the hit movie, “Unplanned: The Abby Johnson Story” will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Monsignor Lolio Parish Center on Sunday, March 15. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at 2 p.m. Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or have a signed permission slip.

Dinner to celebrate St. Patrick and St. Joseph

PROVIDENCE — Blessed Sacrament Church, 239 Regent Ave., will host a combined St. Patrick’s Day and St. Joseph’s Day celebration on Sunday, March 15, from 3 – 7 p.m. in the parish hall. The event will feature a buffet dinner and desserts will include Zeppole and Irish Bread. There will be a cash bar, door prizes and raffles. Night of Reflection

BRISTOL — Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St., will hold its 14th annual Night of Reflection on Friday, March 20, in the Monsignor Lolio Parish Center. Beginning at 5 p.m., a Lenten supper of clam chowder, tuna and seafood sandwiches, chips, dessert and coffee will be served. From 6 - 6:30 p.m., Father Frank Furman from the Diocese of Springfield, Mass., will speak. At 7 p.m., Stations of the Cross will be in the church. Knights to host dinner dance

NORTH SCITUATE — The annual St. Patrick and St. Joseph dinner dance sponsored by the Feeney Council Knights of Columbus will be held on March 21 at 7 p.m. in St. Joseph Church hall, 144 Danielson Pike. Tickets include the traditional corned beef and cabbage Irish dinner, Italian specialty dishes, including Zeppole for dessert. St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish to host indoor flea market

WOONSOCKET —  St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, 174 Harris Ave., will host a two-day indoor flea market on Saturday, March 21, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday, March 22, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Items for sale include name brand clothing for men, women, girls, boys, household items, bedding, curtains, towels, tablecloths, jewelry, children’s books and more. All Day Confessions scheduled at St. Joseph Church

WOONSOCKET —  St. Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Road, will hold All-Day Confessions on Saturday, March 21 from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. in the church. Two to four priests will be available to hear individual confessions throughout the day. All confessionals have both screen and face-to-face options. Soup’s on Dinner at St. Alexander Church

WARREN — On Saturday, March 21, from 5 – 7 p.m., St. Alexander Church, 221 Main St., will serve five different kinds of homemade soup along with various breads and crackers. Soda, water, and homemade pastries are included.  Tickets must be purchased before the event as seating is limited. They will be available before and after Masses or by calling the parish office at 245-6369.

Holy Trinity Parish to host Immigration Forum

WOONSOCKET —The Social Justice Committee of Holy Trinity Parish, will sponsor a forum: entitled “Immigration: Info and Issues” on Sunday, March 22 from 9 - 10:15 a.m. in the Hospitality Room. The presenter is Genesis Flores, caseworker at the Diocesan Office of Immigration and Refugee Services. Flores is also a member of Holy Trinity Parish. She will repeat the presentation in Spanish at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and pastry will be served.

St. Margaret Church to host Lenten Mission 

EAST PROVIDENCE — Father Nathan Ricci, assistant chancellor of the Diocese of Providence, will be the guest preacher for the Lenten Mission at St. Margaret Church.  His mission topic will be: “The Face of God is Mercy: A Reflection to the Prodigal Son.”  The Mission begins at 7 p.m. each night with these topics: Monday, March 23: “The Divine Whisper calling us home: the Younger Son;” Tuesday, March 24: “Mercy and Justice: The Older Son; and Wednesday, March 25: “Regaining what was lost: The Mercy of the Father.”  All are welcome.

St. Joseph Church to host Lenten Mission

WEST WARWICK — St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence St., will offer a Lenten Mission on Monday, March 23 through Wednesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. All three evenings presented by Msgr. Barry R. L. Connerton, pastor emeritus of St. Augustine Church in Providence.  All are welcome.

Saint John the Baptist Parish to host Lenten Mission

PAWTUCKET — Saint John the Baptist Parish will host a Lenten Parish Mission with Father José de Jesús Sánchez, who will offer a program in English on Monday, March 23, at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, March 24, at 7 p.m.; and a bilingual Mass on Wednesday, March 25, at 7 p.m., for the Solemnity of the Annunciation, with a light reception to follow in the parish hall, 69 Quincy Ave. Father Sánchez will also be available for confessions each of the days from 10 a.m.-noon, 3-4:30 p.m., and from 6-7 p.m.

Solar Electric Information Night

RIVERSIDE — St. Brendan Parish, will host Deacon Greg Albanese, project developer of Renewable Energy Services of New England, on March 31, 7 p.m., in the parish center, first floor (former school building), for an information session for anyone considering solar-electric power for their homes or businesses. Deacon Albanese recently oversaw the solar project at St. Brendan Parish which will supply 100 percent of their power needs, saving money as well as raising environmental awareness as stewards of God’s creation. Seeking Notre Dame High School alumnae for reunion

LINCOLN — Alumnae of Notre Dame High School, Central Falls, will hold its final all-class reunion on Sunday, June 7, at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln. This event is for all former students, both graduates and non-graduates of Notre Dame High School from 1937-1980 and will include a celebration of the Mass at Holy Spirit Parish, 1030 Dexter St., Central Falls, followed by a reunion luncheon at Kirkbrae Country Club, 197 Old River Road, Lincoln.
