‘Light of Education Foundation’ Night

FISKDALE, Mass. — “Light of Education Foundation” Night, an introduction, discussion and video of a day in the life of a child in Haiti, will be held on July 12, at 6:30 p.m., at St. Anne-St Patrick Parish, St. Joachim Chapel, 16 Church St., Fiskdale, Mass. Guest speaker will be Magalie Olivier, Foundation Director. The Light of Education Foundation, begun in 2016 in the Malden, Mass. area, is a non-profit organization founded and headed by Father Stanley Rousseau of Haiti. It strives to provide education and personal development for the underprivileged children of Savanne du Bois, Margiot, Haiti through the building of a fledgling school. Admission is free.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church to hold annual Feast celebration

Holy Angels Parish to host Barbecue Chicken Dinner

BARRINGTON — Holy Angels Parish welcomes the public to a Barbecue Chicken Dinner on Thursday, July 12 downstairs in the air-conditioned, fully-accessible church hall, 341 Maple Ave. Seating will begin at 6 p.m. Pre-ordered take-out, ready for pick-up at 5 p.m., is available. The $15.00 meal consists of half a grilled chicken, tossed salad, corn-on-the-cob, potato salad, dinner roll, watermelon, dessert and coffee. Annual Festival of the Family at St. Edward Church

PROVIDENCE — St. Edward Church will host the 13th Annual Festival of the Family in honor of our Lady of Mt. Carmel on Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15. Celebration will start after the 6 p.m. Spanish Mass on Saturday and will include plenty of traditional Spanish food and dancing. Sunday will start with a procession and rosary at 10 a.m. followed by a bilingual Mass at 10:30 a.m., with blessing of cars after Mass. There will be live music, dancing, face painting, games, raffles, cookout and a folk dancing presentation. The Grand Raffle will be drawn at 7 p.m.

Pondering the Future of Faith

BOSTON, Mass. —The 18th annual Evelyn Underhill Lecture in Christian Spirituality will be held on Saturday, July 14, 10 a.m., at Robsham Theater Arts Center, Chestnut Hill Campus, Boston College. The future of faith and the prospects of the Church can seem bleak. Is there room for hope? If so, what shape would hope take? This lecture explores a hope for the future that holds together trust in God, self-criticism, and openness to the unexpected. The presenter will be Father Richard Lennan, STM professor of systematic theology and professor ordinaries. Lecture is free, please register at www.bc.edu/stmreg.

Immaculate Conception Church feast and festival

WESTERLY — The 90th annual celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will take place at the church at 111 High St. On Saturday, July 14: Italian Street Festival, from noon until 9 p.m., featuring favorite food specialties such as fried eggplant, sausage grinders, pasta and meatballs, pizza, clams, baked goods and more. Live and recorded music, games for children, basket raffles and special item raffles. Children and teens invited to 2018 Summer Bible Camp

COVENTRY — Children and teens are invited to join the parishes of Our Lady of Czenstochowa and Saint Vincent de Paul for this year’s Summer Bible Camp, from July 16 – 22, 9 a.m. – noon daily, at the school building at Our Lady of Czenstochowa, 445 Washington St. The theme this year is “Jesus Is My Superhero.” All children are welcome to join us for an exciting week of games, crafts, and snacks. Attendees do not need to be a parishioner of either parish. This year students will have fun while learning about Jesus and the Sacraments. St. Kevin Parish to host Marian Holy Hour and Mass

WARWICK — St. Kevin Parish, 333 Sandy Lane, will host the Deanery Holy Hour for Life on the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Monday, July 16, at 6 p.m. The evening will include exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, reflections, silent adoration, Litany of Loreto and Benediction. Seven Stages of Alzheimer’s Disease: Free community presentation at the Villa at Saint Antoine

NORTH SMITHFIELD — On Wednesday, July 18 at noon, the Villa at Saint Antoine in collaboration with DC Putnam Consulting will be offering a free community presentation about seven stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Faith-Based Prevention Tool Kit available for Newport County

PORTSMOUTH —Newport County Prevention Coalition along with local parishes invite communities to attend a gathering of local faith and prevention leaders to receive copies of the newly designed Faith-Based Prevention Tool Kit for Newport County. Gatherings will be Wednesday, July 18, 12:30 – 2 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church, Portsmouth. Hosted by Deacon John Silvia. Light lunch provided. Friday, July 27, 8:30 – 10 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church, Tiverton. Hosted by Father John Higginbotham. Breakfast refreshments provided. The toolkit which has been in the works for several months, is the result of collaboration between local faith and prevention leaders and is meant to be a valuable resource for faith leaders across the county, providing practical information on substance abuse prevention in their communities as well as lists of local treatment and recovery resources. Local author Genevieve Kineke to speak on #MeToo movement

PROVIDENCE — Local author and speaker, Genevieve Kineke, will give a talk titled “#MeToo: Sex in the City (of Man)” at St. Pius V on Thursday, July 19 at 8 p.m. She will explore the recent explosion of sexual harassment charges in popular culture and around the country while offering an authentic Catholic approach to understanding human sexuality. Rhode Island Catholic Mom’s Group to host Preschool Story Hour

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island Catholic Mom’s Group will host Preschool Story Hour at Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Ave. The Preschool Story hour will begin on Thursday, July 19 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. The program will take place in the church hall located in the basement. The program is geared towards 3 to 4 year olds, but all ages are welcome to attend with a parent and/or guardian. There will be arts and crafts and other theme related activities. Msgr. Sabourin Vacation Bible Camp for People with Disabilities

PROVIDENCE — The Office of the Apostolate for People with Disabilities and St. Patrick Church, will offer the first Msgr. Sabourin Vacation Bible Camp for People with Disabilities. Camp will take place at St. Patrick Church on Smith Street from 9:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m., from July 23- 27. Children and teenagers ages 6-17 years-old are welcome to attend. The cost per person $30.00. All you can eat chowder and clam cakes fundraiser

NORTH SMITHFIELD — The Villa at Saint Antoine will host its second annual “All You Can Eat Chowder & Clam Cakes fundraiser on Friday, Aug. 3 from 3:30 - 7p.m. in its courtyard, 400 Mendon Road in North Smithfield. Chef Cindy’s famous red, clear and white chowders will be featured as well as her delicious clam cakes. Take out will also will be available. $10 for advanced tickets or $12 at the door. New support group for divorced and separated Catholics

CAROLINA — The Office of Life and Family is offering a new support group for divorced and separated Catholics at St. Mary Church, rectory (downstairs, side entrance), 437 Carolina Back Road. The group is ongoing and will be held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. There are no costs to attend. This support group embraces our Catholic faith and God’s grace, and provides a peaceful place for sharing, healing and for topics/discussions related to separation/divorce. Parish communities help offer meals, clothing to neighboring communities

WARWICK —Saints Rose and Clement’s Mother Teresa group has been providing free delicious meals, including desserts, and an assortment of free, gently-worn clothing in an assortment of sizes, to neighboring communities. The locations have been made possible through the kindness of the First Congregational Church of Warwick, at 715 Oakland Beach Ave., and Saints John and James, at 20 Washington St., in West Warwick. Their parish halls are alive with food and fellowship at our 5 p.m. meals held on the second Tuesday and the fourth Friday of the month. Mother Teresa Outreach Ministry is on Facebook.
