‘Buy nothing’ coat drive

WAKEFIELD — St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., will host a Buy Nothing coat drive, downstairs in the church, on Friday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. – noon. For more information, call 783-4411. The parish is still in need of new and used coats, sweaters, sweatshirts, hats and gloves in good condition. Early drop off for coats will be from Sunday Nov. 19-Wed. Nov. 22. Please leave coats downstairs in the church hall.

St. Agnes Church Christmas Star Festival

PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will host its Christmas Star Festival on Friday, Nov. 24, from 5 – 8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 26, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. It will feature a silent auction, penny socials for adults and children, a children’s craft room, bake sale, adult grab bags and much more. The kitchen will be open all three days. Friday will feature chowder and clam cakes, with a ham and bean supper on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. For more information, call 487-1486.

Catholic Underground

PROVIDENCE — Catholic Underground, hosted by St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., will take place on Saturday, November 25, beginning with vespers and holy hour at 8 p.m., led by Revive Ministry, followed by music with John Polce at 9:15 p.m.

Hope and Cope Group meetings scheduled

PORTSMOUTH — The next meeting of the Hope & Cope Group is November 26, at 5 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road. Hope & Cope is a faith-based support group intended for those struggling with or supporting a family member or a friend struggling with alcohol or drug addictions or mental distress. Hope & Cope is open to everyone interested in this ministry. Meetings are held in the Chapel Meeting Room (under the small Chapel) from 5 – 6 p.m. This program is free, and no registration is required. Knights plan upcoming meeting, toy drive

WOONSOCKET — Knights of Columbus Council 113 will host their business meeting on November 27, at 7 p.m., in All Saints Parish Hall, 323 Rathbun St. The Knights will also host a toy drive on November 25, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Ancora Ultrasound Van to visit St. Gabriel’s Call

PROVIDENCE — Beginning on Monday, Nov. 27 from 1 - 3:30 p.m., Rhode Island Right to Life’s Ancora Mobile Ultrasound Van will be parked in front of the Chancery building for the Diocese of Providence, One Cathedral Square, to meet the expectant mothers visiting Gabriel’s Call for a “Baby Gift Bag.” The “Gift Bag” will provide an initial supply of diapers, lotion, wash/shampoo, wipes for baby and more. ‘Catholic Social Teaching: Sources and Principles’ at St. Sebastian Church

PROVIDENCE — St. Sebastian’s Church, 67 Cole Ave., will ring in the new liturgical year with one of the most outspoken and engaging voices from the Diocese of Providence. On Wednesday, Nov. 29, 7 p.m., Mark Gordon will present “Catholic Social Teaching: Sources and Principles.” Hear the Church’s alternative to ideologies from the right and left. Gordon is the president of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Diocese of Providence. He is the author of Forty Days, Forty Graces: Essays of a Grateful Pilgrim and has written for the National Catholic Register, Aleteia, and other Catholic Publications. He blogs on the Dorothy Option on the Patheos Catholic channel, and is a frequent commentator on the meeting place between spirituality and social concerns. Refreshments will follow the event.

Bilingual Mass to commemorate World Aids Day

PROVIDENCE — All are welcome to attend a special bilingual Mass on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 6:30 p.m., at the parish of Saint Patrick, 244 Smith St., to commemorate World Aids Day. Please join as the community prays for and celebrates the lives of all those who have died from HIV. A light dessert collation will be held after Mass.

PROVIDENCE — St. Thomas Church will host a Christmas bazaar, on December 2, from 9 am. – 6 p.m. in the church hall, 65 Fruit Hill Ave. The bazaar will feature specialty booths including handmade crafts, gift baskets, a penny social, children’s raffle, bake shop, games, a money raffle including main prize of $1,000 and more. St. Ann Church Bazaar and silent auction scheduled

NORTH PROVIDENCE — The annual St. Ann Church Bazaar and Silent Auction will be held at the Dillion Council, Knights of Columbus Hall at 1675 Douglas Ave., on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Ample parking is available. The bazaar will feature baked goods and sweets, along with handcrafted gifts by parishioners, children’s hats, scarves, dish cloths, baby rattles, personalized ornaments, outdoor holiday decorations and more than 40 silent auction items. All proceeds to benefit St. Ann Church in Providence.

St. John the Baptist Church to host bazaar

Christmas Bazaar to be held at St. Paul Church

FOSTER— St. Paul Church, 116A Danielson Pike, is having the annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. – noon. St. Agnes Church Holiday Concert

PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will a special Holiday Concert on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the church. The evening is titled, “Preparing for the Nativity: An Evening of Sacred Music for Advent and Christmas.” Music will be provided by The R.I. College Chamber Singers, the Women’s Chorus and the parish choir. Admission is free and there will be a free will offering taken up during the program to benefit the supply closet for the needy in the area. A collation will follow in the church hall. St. Mark Church to host Christmas Festival

JAMESTOWN — Begin the Christmas season by visiting the St. Mark Church Christmas Festival, 60 Narragansett Ave., on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. New to the festival this year will be a cookie walk, Advent wreaths, photographer, theme raffle baskets and children’s gift making. CRANSTON — Saint Mary School, 46 Vallone Road, will host its 12th annual Christmas Shopping Boutique on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The boutique will feature more than 40 crafters and vendors throughout the school, basket raffles, straw raffles, a bake sale, children’s activity room with games, balloon animals and ceramics painting.
