Holy Angels Parish to host Italian Cookie Tray Sale

BARRINGTON — Holy Angels Parish will host an Italian Cookie Tray Sale, which is open to all. Cookie tray orders will be accepted through Sunday, Dec. 9 by calling Barbara at 245-4707. Each tray is filled with a delicious assortment of homemade, Italian cookies. The orders will be available for pick-up in the Parish Presentation Room on Saturday and Sunday, December 22 and 23, between 9 a.m. and noon.

Amos House volunteer tax preparers needed

PROVIDENCE — Amos House is a leading social services agency in South Providence founded by Sister Eileen Murphy in 1976. It prepares free tax returns for income-qualified individuals and families from the beginning of February through mid-April. Please consider donating five hours of your time each week to serve as a tax preparer or greeter. Participants receive IRS training and certification. If you believe you’d enjoy using your skills to help the less fortunate in this way and would like more information, please call Mike Speidel at 617-645-1584.

Catholic Youth Ministry plans next Glorify

Solemn Mass by Candlelight

TIVERTON — All are invited to honor Our Lady’s Immaculate Conception on December 8 at 6 a.m., at Holy Ghost Church, 316 Judson St. The celebration will include Solemn Mass in the Extraordinary Form. Mass for healing offered at St. James Chapel

CHARLESTOWN — A Mass for healing will be offered at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Rd., on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. by Father Paul Desmarais, pastor of St. Mary/St. James Parish. Those whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age may receive the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick within Mass. Knights of Columbus Breakfast

NORTH KINGSTOWN — The Knights of Columbus will hold a breakfast at the Council Hall, 1265 Tower Hill Road, on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. The menu includes, eggs, sausage, French toast, home fries, baked beans, breakfast pastries, Christmas streusel, orange juice, coffee and tea. A Musical Journey through Advent and Christmas

LINCOLN — On Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m., the parish community of Saint Jude, 301 Front St., will celebrate Advent and Christmas. The Saint Jude Christmas Choir, Bell Choir and Children’s Choir, along with organist Michael Garrepy, flutist Mary Ellen Kregler, and directed by Pierre Masse, with lector Stephen Machowski, will unfold the story of Advent and Christmas through Scripture and festive music. The event is free and open to all. A free will offering will be taken.

St. Kevin Church to present Christmas concert

WARWICK — St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, will present a Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. The concert will feature the combined voices of the choirs of St. Kevin, St. Rita and St. Timothy churches, guest soloists and even a visit from Santa. Special guests will be the Woodbury Union Church hand bell choir with bells recovered from their devastating fire on November 21st. Admission is free.

Saint Joseph Church to present Christmas concert

NEWPORT — Saint Joseph Church choir, Denis Tetrault organist/conductor will present a concert featuring vocalists Emma Hookway, Stephanie Tierno, Jen Vaillancourt, Laura Williams and Lionel Boisvert offering a varied program including music for the Christmas season accompanied by organ, piano, brass and timpani. The concert will take place in the sanctuary and gallery of Saint Joseph’s Church, Mann Avenue and Broadway on Saturday, Dec. 15 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the doors of the church the evening of the concert. Joyful Sounds of the Season at Saint Matthew Church

CRANSTON — The Saint Matthew Music Ministry, under the direction of Kyle P. Jameson, KHS, will present the fourth annual “Joyful Sounds of the Season” concert on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. The concert will feature a 20-piece orchestra and choir performing the works of Rutter, Holst, Willcocks, Bach and arrangements of Christmas carols. An Advent-Christmas Choral Journey

Lessons and Carols planned at Holy Angels Church

BARRINGTON — The Parish Choir, under the direction of Nicholas Rocha, will present Lessons and Carols, an evening of word and song, at Holy Angels Church on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. The public is invited to this performance, which will offer an opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. In lieu of admission, non-perishable food donations for the less fortunate will be accepted at the doors of the church before the concert. Hope and Cope support group to meet

PORTSMOUTH — The St. Matthias Ministry Hope and Cope Support Group will meet on Sunday, Dec. 16 from 5 - 6 p.m. in the chapel meeting room, under the chapel, at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 E Main Road.
