St. Pius V School Christmas Concert
PROVIDENCE — St. Pius V School will hold a free Christmas Concert on Friday, Dec. 13, in the church, 55 Elmhurst Ave., from 6:30 - 8 p.m. The concert will feature traditional Christmas songs from across the world in celebration of the diversity within the school community.
Sacred Heart School to present annual Christmas concert
EAST PROVIDENCE — Sacred Heart School will present its annual Christmas Concert in the upper church, at 118 Taunton Ave., on Friday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. The program will include music from all the classes as well as by the SHS Chorus and Band. Admission is free.
Catholic Underground
PROVIDENCE — Catholic Underground will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14 at St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., beginning with a Holy Hour at 7:30 p.m., followed by a performance by singer, songwriter and poet Brooxana Pierre at 9 p.m.
Knights to collect clothing and other items for R.I. Veteran’s Home
EAST PROVIDENCE — As part of Operation ROVAC, Knights of Columbus chapters will be collecting new clothing, toiletries and other daily necessities for the 200 men and women residents at the R.I. Christmas concert at St. Charles Borromeo
WOONSOCKET — St. Charles Borromeo Church will host its final Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. in the parish, 8 Daniels St. The concert will feature the adult choir, with special guests the Providence Youth Classical Guitar Ensemble. Monsignor Clarke School to hold Christmas Festival
WAKEFIELD — Monsignor Clarke School, 5074 Tower Hill Road, will host a Christmas Festival on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event will include more than 77 local vendors to shop from, visits with Santa, kids crafts, “Make n Take” Workshops, food, raffles and more.
Bristol County Chorus to present annual Christmas concert
BRISTOL — The Bristol County Chorus will present its 39th annual Christmas concert, accompanied by a professional orchestra, on Sunday, Dec. 15, at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., at 3 p.m. The chorus and orchestra will be conducted by Director of Music Nicholas Rocha. This year’s holiday offering, “The Night Before Christmas,” will feature a celebration of carols, including music by John Rutter; “Believe” from the popular movie adaptation of “The Polar Express”; and traditional favorites, such as the “Bristol Christmas Sing-Along,” and “O Holy Night.” Tickets are available locally at the George Hail Library in Warren, Paper Packaging and Panache in Bristol, and online at https://bccholidayconcert2019.brownpapertickets.com. St. Margaret Church to feature annual Christmas Concert and Pageant
RUMFORD — Ron Procopio, director of music at St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., will lead the annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m. All are invited to celebrate the Advent and Christmas seasons with the senior choir, junior singers and parish musicians offering both sacred and contemporary music. A live, narrated Nativity Story will be re-enacted by the parish youth. A free will collection will support “Keep the Heat On,” the Diocese of Providence program which provides heating assistance. Admission is free and open to the public.
Week of Christmas Concerts at St. Kevin Church
WARWICK — A Week of Christmas Concerts at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, is scheduled as follows: On Tuesday Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m., enjoy the sounds of Christmas with the Ocean State Pops Orchestra to benefit the Hope Alzheimer’s Center. The concert will feature the 60-piece orchestra performing holiday favorites. Tickets are available at the door or online at OceanStatePops.org. On Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m., the free parish concert will take place with the choirs of St. Kevin, St. Benedict, St. Rita and St. Timothy Churches, with special guests: the Bishop Hendricken Young Men’s Choir, Santa and a surprise guest or two. On Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. the West Bay Chorale celebrates their 40th season with “Welcome Yule,” a salute to the Christmas season. There will be a reception following the concert, and to commemorate their 40 years as an organization, they have invited alumni to join in the final song. St. Mary Church to host Marian devotions
PROVIDENCE — On the evening of Dec. 13, St. Mary Church in Providence will welcome the International Centennial Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fatima. Following the 6:30 p.m. Mass, there will be talks about and devotions to Our Lady, including a procession. On Dec. 14, the church will have the annual candlelight Rorate Mass at 5:30 a.m., followed by further devotions. The church will also host the Legion of Mary Providence Curia retreat on this same day from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Sweet Spirit of Christmas
BRISTOL — The annual Sweet Spirit of Christmas event will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, from 4-7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 15, from 8 a.m. – noon, at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church’s Monsignor Lolio Parish Center, 141 State St. Trays of homemade Christmas cookies and delicious candies will be sold. There will be quarts of homemade sauce for sale as well. Pick up a poinsettia for a last-minute gift idea. There will be gift baskets for raffle and a Christmas Cash raffle with a grand prize of $1,000. You do not need to be present to win. Joyful Sounds of the Season at Saint Matthew Parish
CRANSTON — The Saint Matthew Music Ministry, under the direction of Kyle P. Jameson, KHS, will present the fifth annual “Joyful Sounds of the Season” concert on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at the church, located on the corner of Park and Elmwood Avenues. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. The concert will feature a 20-piece orchestra along with a choir performing the works of Rutter, Holst, Willcocks, Handel and arrangements of favorite Christmas Carols. Hope and Cope support group to meet
PORTSMOUTH — The St. Matthias Ministry Hope and Cope Support Group will meet on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 5 - 6 p.m., in the chapel meeting room, under the chapel, at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 E. Main Road. If you know someone who is supporting a loved one or friend in need of recovery or currently in recovery yourself, then this group is for you. Advent penance with prayers for healing
BARRINGTON — An Advent penance with prayers for healing will take place at St. Luke Church, 108 Washington Road, on Wednesday Dec. 18, from 6 - 8:30 p.m. The service will include adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, confession and rosary. The sacrament of the anointing of the sick will be offered. Those whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age may receive the sacrament of anointing of the sick.

Knights of Columbus to host blood drive
EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Knights of Columbus, Council 1528, in cooperation with the Rhode Island Blood Center, will host a blood drive on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Columbus Club Hall, 3200 Pawtucket Ave. Each donation can save three lives. 24-Hour Rosary Prayer Vigil
PROVIDENCE — St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., will host a 24-Hour Rosary Prayer Vigil. The event will begin on Friday, December 27 at 3:30 p.m. in the small chapel located in the school building and will conclude at 3:30 p.m. on December 28. JOHNSTON — Saint Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Ave., will present “A Journey Through the Nativity” on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 3 p.m. The music ministry, under the direction of Christopher A. Caramello, will host this Christmas celebration of sacred music. An eclectic program of sacred works, carols and contemporary pieces will give attendees a flavor of the Christmas story from various perspectives, languages and eras of music. The event will feature the parish choir and soloists accompanied by brass and string ensembles and commentary. First Saturday Devotions at St. Augustine Church
PROVIDENCE — First Saturday Devotions (in song) to Our Lady of Fatima at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., will begin on January 4 and continue on the first Saturday of each successive month through May. Devotions begin with the sacrament of reconciliation from 3:45 p.m. until 5 p.m., the Holy Rosary in song at 4 p.m., private meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Mass with Holy Communion beginning at 5 p.m. The devotions are being sponsored by the St. Augustine Council of the Knights of Columbus in conjunction with the Men of St. Joseph and Relevant Radio. All are invited on each of the five first Saturdays for this very special devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary.
