Free Income Tax Preparation
PROVIDENCE — Amos House, 460 Pine St., a fully handicap-accessible agency, prepares free income tax returns for those who earned $55,000 or less in 2018. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening appointments may be made through April 12 by calling 401-272-0220. PAWTUCKET — The St. John Paul II Conference of St. Vincent De Paul will sponsor a Lenten Dinner, featuring Portuguese-style fish filets, rice, salad, bread and dessert, on Friday, April 12, 6:30 p.m., following the Stations of the Cross, in St. Cecilia Church Hall, 745 Central Ave. For tickets, call Al Nunes at 508-725-1419. Giant Yard Sale
PAWTUCKET — On Saturday, April 13, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., Woodlawn Catholic Regional School will host a giant outdoor yard sale at 61 Hope St. in Pawtucket. In the event of rain, the yard sale will be held on Saturday, April 20. Items available to purchase will include small furniture, books, music, toys, Christmas items, tools, lots of household items and much more. Vendors are welcome to rent space to sell their personal items. Anyone interested should call 965-4312. If you have any unwanted “useable” items that you wish to donate to the Woodlawn tables, please call to make an arrangement for delivery or pick up.
Spaghetti Dinner in support of man in need of kidney
COVENTRY — All are invited to attend a spaghetti dinner in support of Eric Thatcher, a young man in advanced kidney failure and a SS. John and Paul parishioner. Easter hams and candy for Jeanne Jugan Residence
PAWTUCKET — The Little Sisters of the Poor will collect Easter hams and candy on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main St. Each year, the Sisters, residents and volunteers look forward to greeting visitors and accepting generous contributions of hams which will fill their refrigerators with future meals for their residents. Mass for healing offered at St. James Chapel
CHARLESTOWN — A Mass for healing will be offered at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Rd., on Sunday, April 14 at 2 p.m. by Father Paul Desmarais, pastor of St. Mary/St. James Parish. Those whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age may receive the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick within Mass. St. Mary Church to offer Concert of Sacred Music
WEST WARWICK — St. Mary Church will offer a Concert of Sacred Music, which also includes readings from Holy Scripture, on Wednesday, April 17, in the church, 68 Church St. This event celebrates the annual observance of Tenebrae, a dramatic rendering of the night which recalls Judas Iscariot’s treachery, his betrayal of Our Lord for 30 pieces of silver. Because of periods of darkness and intermittent loud, thunderous sounds; this service is not intended for young children. There will be a simple reception in Father Gibson Hall immediately following. Hope and Cope support group to meet
PORTSMOUTH — The St. Matthias Ministry Hope and Cope Support Group will meet on Sunday, April 21, from 5 - 6 p.m. in the chapel meeting room, under the chapel, at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 E. Main Road. If you know someone who is supporting a loved one or friend in need of recovery or currently in recovery yourself, then this group is for you. This program is free and provides a wonderful focus on Catholic Spirituality to support recovery. No registration is required. Pastoral Care Fundraiser to benefit life and family programs
PAWTUCKET — The Office of Life and Family Ministry will sponsor a fundraiser-dinner on Saturday, April 27 from 6 - 10 p.m. at St. John Paul II Church (St. Cecilia’s), 1253 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. The dinner is being held to support the diocesan pastoral care programs: St. Gabriel’s Call (pregnancy and beyond outreach and pre-natal diagnosis assistance and awareness), and Project Rachel/Rachel’s Vineyard (post-abortion ministry). Theology on Tap: What is the Trinity?

The topic will be “What is the Trinity,” led by Dr. Robert Barry, Associate Professor of Theology, Providence College. Holy Name Society to host May Breakfast

St. Mary Church to celebrate 175th anniversary
WEST WARWICK — St. Mary Church, will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee on Sunday, May 5. The Solemn 175th Anniversary concelebrated Mass of Thanksgiving will begin at noon with Bishop Thomas J. Tobin serving as principal celebrant and homilist. The blessing of the new outdoor statue of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus will be blessed by the bishop immediately following the Mass. The Anniversary Dinner-Dance will take place at the Cranston Country Club, 69 Burlingame Road, Cranston, with hors d’oeuvres served beginning at 3 p.m. and dinner at 5 p.m. Dinner choices are family style chicken dinner or pasta primavera.
