When he was a teenager, St. Benedict left his homeland and retreated to a desert mountain, where he prayed and fasted. One day, a priest appeared out of nowhere with food, asking him to share a meal with him because it was Easter Sunday. The priest explained that as he sat down to eat in his home, a voice told him that there was a young man distressed with hunger.
Immediately the priest packed up the food and set out to look for Benedict.
