St. Bernadette Soubirous

Saints’ last words

Posted

St. Bernadette Soubirous (1844-1879), whose visions of Mary brought many pilgrims to Lourdes, spoke these final words before she died of tuberculosis. Her mother superior told her she would ask the Blessed Mother for consolation, but Bernadette answered: “No, no consolation, but strength and patience. All this can be used for heaven. I saw her! I saw her! Oh, how beautiful she was, and how I long to see her again!” Her last words were “Mother of God, pray for me, poor sinner! Mother of God, pray for me, poor sinner!”
