St. Patrick's set to witness another miracle

PROVIDENCE - St. Patrick School will host its Fourth Annual Spring Dinner-Auction to benefit the St. Patrick School Miracle Fund on March 24 at The Marriott Hotel, One Orms Street.

The event will include a cocktail hour, full-course dinner, dancing and music by "A Capella Gold," and silent and live auctions. Prizes include restaurant gift certificates, original artwork, sports tickets, golf and theater packages, theme baskets and weekend getaways.

"Come and enjoy a fun-filled evening, while helping to keep the light of education and formation alive on Smith Hill," said Anita Watkins, the school's development director.

According to Watkins, proceeds from the event will provide tuition subsidies for children who would not be able to attend St. Patrick's without the financial support.

"It is extremely important to our students," she emphasized, adding that last year, the event provided $30,000 in scholarship assistance.

St. Patrick School, founded in 1851, currently serves 183 students of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. While the school has faced numerous financial crises in the past, the Smith Street facility continues to open its doors to the Smith Hill community and to all of Rhode Island.

Watkins said that, in addition to donating auction items, placing an advertisement in the program booklet and attending the event, benefactors can also contribute funds to provide either a full- or partial-scholarship to a deserving St. Patrick's student. The current tuition is $3,200 a year.
