Thinking of others this Thanksgiving

PROVIDENCE — Thanks to the generosity of the Blessed Sacrament School community, as well as the North Providence Police Department who donated two cases of food to the school, the staff and students came together to make Thanksgiving extra special for families this holiday.

Middle schoolers stayed late on Monday to put together 10 large food baskets to be distributed to families in need. The baskets included a frozen turkey and all the fixings for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.

Seventh grade teacher Toni Scaramuzzo, who helped to organize this project, shared that the words of St. Teresa of Calcutta sum up what she is trying to teach the students about these acts of kindness.

“She said, ‘It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving,’” Scaramuzzo shared. “I believe having students make baskets is so important for their future. So they can actually see beyond materialistic things and focus on the good it brings to individuals.”
