Those who profess faith must denounce abortion

TO THE EDITOR:

Among the many voices supporting recent pro-abortion legislation, there have been a few with the title of Reverend before their names. Assuming that they might profess some allegiance to Christ, it is incomprehensible how they could attempt to use Jesus’s authority to justify the slaughter of His children.
Our Lord clearly revealed the nature and character of His eternal Father in His words, actions, and His very being. The act of abortion is the exact opposite of His command to choose life. To believe that God lovingly places a new soul into a new embryo at the moment of conception, and would then approve of another person killing that tiny human before birth, is utterly contrary to Christ’s teaching. God creates all things that they might have being.
Let those who approve of abortion spout their gospel of death, but refrain from vainly claiming any validation from Christ. He gives none, and hates the shedding of innocent blood.
