LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Trump should not support increase in drone strikes

TO THE EDITOR:

In recent years, the newspaper has not hesitated to criticize national policy when it deviated from Catholic social teaching. For example, on April 30, 2015, you called for the Obama administration to “cease its reckless and unjustifiable use of drones without sufficient oversight and deeper moral evaluation” (President Obama’s failed moral calculus). I now see in news reports that the Trump administration has widened the use of drones, taking off some of the oversight imposed by Obama. I would hope that, in the interest of even handedness and consistency of purpose, your paper would also criticize the Trump administration’s use of drones.
