LINCOLN — According to reports from the Hollywood Reporter site, the R-rated Movie obtained the second-best start for Pure Flix, a faith-based distributor; previous estimates had suggested that he would only earn around $ 3 million.

Despite a relatively modest promotion, media blackout and a Twitter block, the controversial pro-life drama Unplanned opened successfully, raising $6.1 million in 1,059 U.S. theaters on the first weekend and 8.3 million theaters in total by the second week.

The film tells the real-life story of Abby Johnson, who resigned from her job as director of an abortion clinic at Planned Parenthood to become a pro-life activist after witnessing an abortion at 13 weeks.

On Thursday, March 28, two movie theaters in Lincoln were completely filled at a promotional event for the film organized by the Mother of Life Center. Those in attendance were very moved by the movie and many expressed that they will invite other people to see the film.

The film is moving, a sign of the power of prayer and the infinite mercy of God that can redeem and heal the hearts of sinners.

This week, the film will continue to be shown at the Cinema world Lincoln theaters and the Warwick Showcase Cinemas. Everyone should take advantage of this opportunity to take the teenagers of your family to a film that will be an investment that you will never regret.

While the critics were split about 50/50 on the film, 94% of out of 3,366 comments on the Rotten Tomatoes site were positive on the film.

One person wrote: “The best movie I’ve seen, bring tissues.”

Another person said: “There are two groups of people who will find the truths illustrated in this film almost unbearable: Those who have spent their lives believing that abortions are health care or a woman’s right to choose, and those who have had participated in an abortion. But if a former director of a Planned Parenthood clinic that believed those lies can find the healing, love and mercy of God, anyone can do it. “

This viewer said that those who will benefit immensely from watching this film are teenagers and young adults before they find themselves in an unexpected pregnancy or meet friends or siblings in such circumstances.

“This movie can touch their hearts before the culture of death brainwashes them; a powerful and very well made movie,” the viewer wrote.

Jeremy B said: “As a Non-Christian father of five daughters this movie is a cultural ‘must see.’ The only people that are pro-abortion are ones that given the opportunity to be born. I am a 20-year retired combat vet and “healthcare” saves and prolongs lives. Abortion isn’t healthcare; it is warfare against babies.”

Lisa R. said: “Excellent movie. Very well done — production quality, acting, script, and music. Not a preaching movie — just telling it how it is. A movie for anyone who cares about this topic, regardless of their side of the debate. Go see it, it is life-changing.”

Reviewing more than 30 comments from people who watched the movie, there were several heart changes from people who now consider themselves pro-life.

I went to see it again taking my teen daughter on the second weekend and the theater was almost full. The movie put tears in my eyes again and it is very well done. My daughter was very impressed with the acting.

In the midst of bills that seek to expand abortion in R.I., this film presents excellent testimony and arguments exposing the falsehood of those who promote abortion.
