To the Editor:
How will the new changes in wording of the English Mass promote the purpose of celebrating Mass in the vernacular, which was clearly promulgated by Vatican II?
How can a Mass be "in the vernacular" when the congregation must learn a whole new vocabulary? Doesn't "in the vernacular" mean using the language of the people?
Ineffably? Suffused? Gibbet? (And I was around before Vatican II.)
I just can't picture Jesus correcting an apostle's grammar.
