Masses planned for deaf, hard of hearing

St. Bartholomew Parish announces feast

PROVIDENCE — St. Bartholomew Parish, 305 Laurel Hill Ave., will hold their annual feast and festival, August 21-23, 6-10 p.m.; August 24, 5 -10 p.m., on the church grounds. A Mass in honor of St. Bartholomew will be concelebrated on August 24 at 10:30 a.m. Scalabrini Father Matthew Didone will be the main celebrant. The festival will include carnival rides and games, doughboys, Italian, American and Latin American foods, homemade pastries and desserts and raffles. For more information, call 944-4466.

Franciscan Missionaries of Mary sponsor Mass

NORTH PROVIDENCE –The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, 399 Fruit Hill Ave., will host a Mass, August 23, 9 a.m., in the Holy Family Chapel. St. Edmund’s announces sailing adventure

Assumption Church dedicates parish center

PROVIDENCE — Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 791 Potters Ave., will dedicate its new parish center August 24, at the 9:45 a.m. Mass. The Mass will be celebrated in the center, which is being dedicated in memory of longtime parishioner Joe White, who died earlier this year.

Ignatian Volunteer Corps seeks new members

The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVCUSA.ORG) is coming to New England. The IVC represents a unique combination of community service and spiritual reflection for retirees. There will be an information meeting held on September 12 at 3:30 p.m. for those interested in volunteering, serving as a spiritual reflector, being a placement site, and/or assisting with the development effort.

Penitents plan Mass and dinner

PORTSMOUTH —The Confraternity of Penitents will sponsor its annual Queenship of Mary Mass and dinner at Portsmouth Abbey, Cory’s Lane, August 22. The celebration, which marks the fifth anniversary of the group’s refounding, will begin with Mass, 6 p.m., in the Abbey auditorium, celebrated by Carmelite Father John of the Trinity. Following Mass, a buffet dinner will be served in the Abbey cafeteria.

St. Brigid Church plans annual parish picnic
