The old rugged cross

Posted

A sure sign of spring, and the hope for eternal life the season brings each Easter unfolds as workmen Jason Sheehan, left, and Jonathan Laverge, of J&S Building Exteriors of Attleboro, Mass., carefully guide the cross they helped to refurbish back to the roof of the Rejoice in Hope Youth Center in Cranston on March 19.

The decades-old, 8-foot wooden cross, which was deteriorating, was removed several months ago for refinishing. The company, which had previously repaired the center’s roof, donated their services to rebuild and wrap the cross in copper in order to protect it.
