REAPPOINTMENTS

In conformity with the Code of Canon Law and the Priest Personnel Policy of the Diocese of Providence, the Most Reverend Thomas J. Tobin is pleased to appoint the following pastors to a new six year term effective July 1, 2015:

ASSISTANT PASTORS

The Provincial Superior of the Dominican Fathers has made the following appointment with the approval of the Most Reverend Thomas J. Tobin:

Reverend William Thomas More Garrett, OP, to Assistant Pastor, St. Pius V Parish, Providence, effective June 1, 2015.

The Provincial Superior of the Missionaries of St. Charles-Scalabrinians has made the following appointment with the approval of the Most Reverend Thomas J. Tobin:

Reverend German Vargas, CS, to Assistant Pastor, St. Bartholomew Parish, Providence, effective May 1, 2015.

SPECIAL APOSTOLATE

Reverend Jonathan DeFelice, OSB, to Assistant Moderator of the Curia and Vice Chancellor of the Diocese of Providence, with residence at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, effective July 1, 2015.

Reverend Albert Duggan, OP, to Catholic Chaplain, Brown University, Providence, with residence at St. Pius V Parish, Providence, effective July 1, 2015.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE

Reverend George K. Nixon, Assistant Pastor of St. Philip Parish, Greenville, has requested and has been granted a temporary leave of absence from the active ministry for personal reasons, effective May 25, 2015.

FACULTIES REVOKED

In May 2015, the Diocese of Charleston informed the Diocese of Providence of concerns regarding Reverend Edward J. Kelley, a retired priest of the Diocese of Providence currently residing in South Carolina. Effective May 19, 2015, Bishop Tobin revoked the priestly faculties of Reverend Edward J. Kelley, until further notice.
