Bishops’ call for compassion upholds human dignity, need for secure borders

TO THE EDITOR:

I recently read your article, “A Call for Compassion: United States Bishops Demand Immigration Reform,” (March 5), and appreciated how you highlighted the call to uphold human dignity while still recognizing the need for orderly and secure borders. That balance of compassion and realism really stood out to me.

I wrote a short story, “The Weight of Grace,” about compassion and how it can change the way we see people who feel unseen. Reading your article, I was struck by how closely the theme aligns with the message you shared.

Thank you for writing thoughtfully about such an important topic.
