PROVIDENCE — Louise “Duce” Dussault, Director of Catholic Youth Ministry for the Diocese of Providence, has announced her plans to retire at the end of December 2022.
For more than 34 years, Duce has faithfully managed a wide variety of ministries to Catholic youth in Rhode Island, including youth centers, Catholic Athletic League, summer camps, Catholic scouting and more.
“We are so grateful for the many years Duce has dedicated to the spiritual and and social-emotional growth and formation of young people and those who work with them in our diocese,” said Rev. Msgr. Albert A. Kenney, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia.
After nine years in parish youth ministry, Duce began at the diocese in 1988 as Associate Director of Youth Ministry, rising to Director in 1989. She served on numerous boards and committees, developed new programs, and held leadership roles with New England Directors of Youth Ministry and National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry—which recognized her with a national award in 2012.
“I have deeply loved this ministry, the diocese, and especially the people I have worked with and for,” said Duce. “I am most grateful for the support of the many bishops and supervisors I’ve had the pleasure of serving and for everyone who has contributed in any way to youth ministry across the diocese. I am looking forward to what the Lord now has in store for me.”
The Diocese of Providence will conduct a national search for a new Director of Catholic Youth Ministry, details of which will be announced on the diocesan website, dioceseofprovidence.org.
