Douglas Noble

CHARLESTOWN — Douglas J. Noble, 76, of Charlestown, passed away on July 28, 2019.

Doug was born in Kingston, N.Y. and was the son of John Noble and Mildred Rhymer. He was predeceased in death by his mother, father, and brother, Benjamin Noble.

Doug and Eileen were married and devoted to each other for 51 years.

Doug was a dedicated and loving father to his three daughters, Jori Farley and son-in-law John Farley, Traci Berardelli, and Shannon Strate and son-in-law Dave Strate Jr. Doug is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Michael Berardelli and his wife Bethany; Ryan Poplawski; Joshua Poplawski; Melissa Berardelli; Matthew Berardelli; Melanie Berardelli; and Sean Strate.

Doug was employed by AT&T for 30 years as a satellite engineer prior to an early retirement. For the past 20 years, Doug has contributed his knowledge and skills in various organizations including FEMA, in which he assisted in restoring communication after natural disasters. He worked as an independent engineering contractor laying international undersea fiber optic cables. These experiences allowed Doug and Eileen to enjoy traveling the world.

He was extremely active in the Westerly Yacht Club, having held many positions of responsibility including that of Commodore in 2007. Doug enjoyed his boat, Kokomo, as well many trips with family and friends. He proudly served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and in the Knights of Columbus.

Doug was devoted to his faith and served his church St. Mary’s and St. James Chapel where he was a key player in the development and construction of new parish center. He was also employed as the business and financial manager at Diocese of Providence.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, August 1 at St. James Chapel, Charlestown.
