PROVIDENCE — Daniel Harrop, M.D., is being remembered for his years of service in support of several organizations, including the SERRA Club of R.I., the R.I. Catholic Medical Society, the Knights of Columbus, The Becket Foundation for Brown-RISD, and his alma mater, Bishop Hendricken High School, whose president, Father Robert L. Marciano, KHS ‘75, shared the news of Dr. Harrop’s sudden passing on Sept. 29 with the school community.
“Dr. Harrop was a longtime and ardent benefactor of Bishop Hendricken. Throughout his life, Dr. Harrop served as a President of the Alumni Board, Chairman of the Board of Directors (Advisors), as a member of Hendricken’s Development & Annual Fund Committees and Heart of Hendricken Society,” he said.
Father Bernard A. Healey, director of the Rhode Island Catholic Conference, reflected on Harrop’s zeal in supporting the Church’s public policy positions.
“It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Dr. Daniel Harrop,” Father Healey told Rhode Island Catholic. “He helped the R.I. Catholic Conference on numerous occasions as a zealous advocate of the Church’s public policy positions, including offering testimony at Statehouse hearings. I offer my sympathy to his family and the promise of my prayers for their consolation and for the gentle repose of Dr. Harrop’s soul.”
