From the Archives: Catholic School Memories

In this photo from The Providence Visitor, November 4, 1994, third graders from St. Philomena School in Portsmouth take a break after performing a Bavarian folk dance.

New school memories will be made on Saturday, May 21, from noon-4 p.m. when all are invited to the Catholic Schools Arts Festival at St. Philomena School of the Sacred Heart in Portsmouth. The festival is an outdoor Performing Arts Showcase Concert with students from more than 18 of our Catholic Schools in Rhode Island. This special day will feature the World Premiere of a combined chorus piece by Tom Kendzia, liturgical musician and composer. Let’s reminisce as “The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy,” (Ps 126:3). As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Diocese of Providence, we welcome readers to share special photos from their church events or Catholic school moments of the past.
