From the Archives: Patrick Charles Keely

The present Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul was designed by noted Irish-American architect Patrick Charles Keely and constructed with unusual exterior walls of Connecticut brownstone. Rather than imagine for the site a neo-gothic building for which Keely was famous, Keely designed a Romanesque-style building that was plain and simple on the outside, but beautiful and prayerful on the inside. The cathedral was completed in 1876.
