WARWICK — Hundreds of families attended a school fair on Jan. 24 at the Crowne Plaza to learn about education options across the Providence area, gathering representatives from more than 30 public, charter, and private schools in one location.

The event was free to the public and showcased a diverse range of paths, including many area Catholic schools. The fair provided families the chance to meet directly with educators and ask specific questions, ensuring they could make the best and most informed choices for their children.

The event was organized by Rhode Island Families for School Choice in collaboration with the National School Choice Awareness Foundation and coincided with National School Choice Week, which ran Jan. 25–31.

“The most exciting thing about the School Choice Fair is the combination of different types of schools and the necessary resources coming together under one roof,” said Niyoka Powell, coalition chair of Rhode Island Families for School Choice. “This form of community engagement helps families decide the value of the schools we invest in for our children.”

In addition to school information, the event included activities for children, such as face painting and balloon art, and offered snacks to attendees. National School Choice Week was marked by events nationwide aimed at increasing awareness of K-12 education options and helping families navigate school selection.
