Kids learn about God's love through fun activities in new ministry for parishes

The recent “yoking” of the parishes of Christ the King and St. Anthony in West Warwick has brought a new ministry to the parishes. In September of this school year, the staff and volunteers at the parishes decided to kick off a new and exciting Kids Ministry, open to students in grades 3 through 5. The program focuses on their God-given abilities, and through hands-on crafts and games, children learn about God’s incredible love. Matthew Silva and Isabella DaSilva lead the new program as well as the youth ministry and the many youth parish events. In September, the children gathered to make slime and the theme was “God will always get us through the ‘stickiness’ of life.” In October, the children painted pumpkins and made some chocolate-covered fall treats to take home to their families. The parish will soon host a trunk-or-treat in October, an Advent family night on December 3, and a kids movie night on Dec. 17.
