PROVIDENCE — On July 6, La Salle Academy announced the passing of Walter McLaughlin, a member of La Salle’s class of 1957. McLaughlin’s commitment to La Salle’s mission was instrumental in carrying on the work of the school’s patron St. John Baptist de La Salle.
La Salle President Brother Dennis Malloy, FSC, said that McLaughlin’s immeasurable impact on the La Salle community, especially its students, will continue through the McLaughlin Athletic Center, of which he was very proud.
“Walter McLaughlin truly epitomizes the three pillars of Lasallian charism: faith, community and service,” said Brother Malloy. “While his passing marks the end of an era, his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of Lasallians for generations to come.”
