With more than 1.7 million Ukrainian refugees crossing the border into Poland in an attempt to flee a Russian attack on their nation, St. Adalbert’s Parish and Janusz Korczak Polish Language School are partnering to ask for support for two charitable foundations in Poland that are helping the refugees as the situation worsens.
“The situation in Ukraine is rapidly unfolding, so please don’t wait, as these foundations need help to assist our Ukrainian sisters and brothers affected by this war,” said Father Marek Kupka, pastor of St. Adalbert’s, Providence, the oldest Polish Roman Catholic parish in Rhode Island. “Prayers and support will really make a huge difference.”
The two charities that Father Marek is working with are: The Profeto.pl Foundation in Warsaw, Poland, which helps refugee women and children; and the Rodzinny Gdansk Foudation in Gdansk, Poland, which is helping refugee orphan children. Father Kupka said that anyone wishing to donate to these charities can write a check or money order to either St. Adalbert’s Church or to JK Polish Language School, and include “Ukraine” in the memo, and mail to St. Adalbert’s Church, 866 Atwells Ave., Providence, RI 02909. Donations may also be made online at www.stadalberts.us (click on DONATE and choose FOR UKRAINE from the fund menu). The parish and school are also collecting items for babies and their mothers that they will send to Poland.
