Newspapers recognized by Catholic Press Association

DENVER — Rhode Island Catholic, including its Spanish language edition El Catolico de Rhode Island, won a combined seven awards from the Catholic Press Association of the U.S. and Canada during the 2013 Catholic Media Convention, held June 19-22.

The awards were won in a variety of categories including news and feature writing and overall general excellence.

Rhode Island Catholic Editor Rick Snizek represented the diocesan newspaper at the annual convention, which was this year in Denver.

“El Catolico Editor Silvio Cuellar and I are quite honored that the diocesan newspapers have been recognized by the Catholic Press Association for their mission in helping to spread the Good News happening each week in the Diocese of Providence,” Snizek said.

The newspapers won the following awards in the category for diocesan newspapers with circulations greater than 30,000:
